Parenting - Supporting Health and Development

There are many different aspects of early years development which parents' guide and support their children through.

From hygiene routines to behaviour management and nutrition, it is necessary to have strategies to successfully navigate through early parenthood.

Establishing good sleep routines and keeping your child engaged in simple learning activities are key elements for successful everyday parenting. Routines are essential to young children, making them feel safe, secure and settled. The absence of routines can result in a child displaying challenging behavior and becoming agitated or unsettled.

Routines are also helpful to parents, as make planning each day easier and more productive for both parent and child. Routines ensure your child's needs are met. There are of course times when routines may need to be abandoned altogether, due to unforeseen circumstances. Children can be supported to understand this and adjust. Nonetheless, as a parent it is advisable to maintain a consistent approach to your child's day, through adopting set meal times, bath times and bedtimes.

Primarily, routines aid your child's development, providing consistency of expectations, and a secure environment for your child to learn.
